
For the strategic and organizational readjustment of the agricultural sciences within a European context there is the need to generate increasingly the individual profiles of the universities on the one hand and to develop a stronger cross border cooperation between universities, institutions and disciplines on the other hand.
In order to increase the attractiveness of their study courses five leading Western European universities formed a network under the name of ‘Euroleague for Life Sciences’, which will offer joint Master courses in future.
The agricultural universities and faculties in the Balkan region have just started to integrate into the Bologna Process. On their way to generating their specific profiles in the national and international context, these institutions are supported by ongoing Tempus-Cards projects.
The ‘Southeast European Core Group’ (SEE CG) within the framework of the DAAD programme ‘Academic Reconstruction for Southeast Europe’ is a bottom-up approach in modernizing the curricula in agricultural sciences at Balkan universities beyond their national priorities and the insistence of their institutions.
