Curriculum development and Higher Education Reform
Since beginning of the Bologna process in 1988 the 41 signatory countries have agreed to realize the common Higher Education Area in Europe. This implies the introduction of comparable university degrees (Bachelor’s and Master’s) and the ECTS system valid throughout Europe as well as mandatory quality standards in teaching.
In order to achieve these goals, the Central, Southeastern and Eastern European universities can be aided by the EU Tempus programme, which offers them the chance to carry out projects on reforms of their curricula and teaching structures.
The Eastern Europe Centre of the University of Hohenheim together with its partner universities in Central, Southeastern and Eastern Europe is the most successful institution in Germany as far as the acquisition and coordination of Tempus-Phare, Tempus-Tacis and Tempus-Cards projects is concerned.
