Description of the Project The planned accession of Romania to the EU makes great demands to its Higher Education structure, methods and contents. Especially the agricultural sector with its high importance for Romania’s economy demanded and will demand during the integration process first of all a thorough and up-to-date education of future decision makers in agriculture, laying the base for a transition to a modern, resource saving and market oriented production.
Of special importance were regarded topics which have been neglected systematically by the prior curricula, as Economics, Farm Management, Marketing, Accounting and further Business Administration and EU related issues.
A second aim was to re-establish the international competitivity of the Romanian agricultural education system.
For this purpose short visits, further training seminars and intensive courses have been organised for Romanian staff in DE and UK. This training was further accompanied by intensive lectures held by professors from NL and DE in Timisoara, Cluj and Iasi.
