Objectives of the Project The project’s objective is to enhance and complement at the three partner universities in the Balkan region the postgraduate education in the field of regional rural development, in particular to close existing gaps in the agro-economic curricula with regard to regional development, market and institutional mechanisms. This overall objective has been broken down into the following single objectives:
establish a needs-oriented education of highly qualified professionals for agricultural economics.
Close existing gaps in the agro-economic curricula esp. regional and institutional development.
Retraining of scientific staff and improvement of their skills, e.g. in regional planning, market and institutional development through intensive courses in the region.
Upgrading teaching and communication equipment .
Develop the programme jointly for the region.
Develop contents which can be applied at all 3 universities but leave space for considering the specific development of the countries.
Take special note of the relevance of the programme contents for the job market.
Rebuild a network of collaboration in the region in the area of education, training and research.
Rebuild collegial partnership in the region.
Perform student and postgraduate exchange visits to EU partner universities

- Performing student and postgraduate exchange visits to EU partner universities
Outcome of the Project Management and professional skills training including workshops and seminars.
Staff development mobilities of over 180 person-weeks.
Organisation of intensive lectures held by scientists from UK and D in Sarajevo (March 2002), Skopje (November 2002) and Tirana (November 2003).
Student exchange programme with 18 students from BIH, ALB and FYROM.
Intensive language courses organized in Macedonia in English and German.
Organisation of peer to peer contacts at universities in Stuttgart, Sarajevo, Tirana, Skopje and London.
Output (Materials developed) Course materials in Serbian/Macedonian
